Mont St Michel, France
Thursday, October 6, 2011
We were up very early this morning, so early that we got to Mont Saint-Michel one hour before it opened. This was good as the weather was clear, and we practically had the place to ourselves which made for great photos. Once the shops opened, and the tourist buses arrived, it started to rain. That was our cue to leave, so we jumped in the car and drove for four hours through the narrowest streets inland toward Blois. We had lunch at a truckstop near le mans. Arrived at Blois at 2pm, slept for 2 hrs then made our way to Chambord.
Our GPS led us to the staff carpark, so we snuck in the back gate, and did not have to pay. We got some amazing photos. We then drove to the centre of Blois and found the old Blois Chateau which contained a 800 year old church… the church where Joan of Arc was blessed. We asked every guy in the area, who had an expensive looking camera, to take a photo of us with our camera. Those guys with good cameras sure know how to take a good photo!
